Russia has announced measures to strengthen Tajikistan’s border with Afghanistan through the provision of weapons, military equipment and technical border-protection systems, reflecting Moscow’s continued concerns over terrorist threats emanating from Afghan territory and their potential implications for regional security.

Weapons supplied to Afghanistan’s former security forces have reached militant networks threatening Pakistan. Their continued circulation, alongside access to sanctuary and logistical support, has made controlling these arms a pressing regional security responsibility.
