A delegation of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) recently met members of the European Parliament in Brussels and demanded the revocation of Pakistan’s GSP+ trade status. This is not the first time. BNM has a long history of anti-Pakistan activities. Acting at the behest of India and receiving funding from its enemies, the group has consistently supported terrorism inside Pakistan. Now it has taken its campaign to the European Parliament to discourage Pakistani goods in the European market. The real agenda behind this propaganda is to economically isolate Pakistan, cripple its progress, and harm millions of its citizens.
GSP+ provides Pakistan with duty-free access to the European Union market for millions of tons of goods. This status generates billions of dollars in annual revenue and protects the livelihoods of millions of Pakistanis across the country, including farmers in Punjab and Sindh, industrial workers nationwide, and especially the fishermen, fruit growers, and youth of Balochistan. Revoking it would deliver a crushing blow to the national economy and push vulnerable communities deeper into poverty.
The BNM, which claims to be the voice of the Baloch people, is in reality working directly against Balochistan and Pakistan. It functions as the political front for banned terrorist networks and serves as a key instrument in India’s proxy war. Its human rights wing, PAANK, systematically misleads the international community by presenting terrorists as “missing persons.” A clear example is Attaullah. PAANK and BNM portrayed him as an innocent missing person to generate sympathy and pressure on Pakistan. Later, he emerged as a terrorist involved in the Jiwani attack, proving once again that their narrative is a calculated shield for terrorism.
An organization that receives funding from the country’s enemies, provides cover to terrorist outfits, and works against its own people has no moral or legal right to lecture the world about GSP+ status. When Pakistani courts convict individuals like Mahrang Baloch and Sibgutullah for inciting violence against the state, it is not oppression but a clear case of legal justice backed by evidence. BNM attempt to question this verdict while shielding terrorists exposes its hypocrisy.
By demanding the end of GSP+, the BNM exposes its true anti-Balochistan agenda. It seeks to block the export of Balochistan’s premium grapes, cherries, pomegranates, dates from Panjgur, and seafood to European markets. This would devastate local farmers, fishermen, laborers, and young entrepreneurs who depend on these exports. Such actions amount to economic terrorism aimed at isolating Balochistan and reversing its development.
This BNM propaganda against Pakistan’s GSP+ status is built on lies and foreign manipulation staged at the behest of India. The European Union and the international community must see through this deception. Pakistan’s GSP+ status rests on solid economic grounds and cannot be revoked on the basis of fabricated narratives pushed by India-backed agents. Balochistan is an integral part of Pakistan and will remain so forever. The nation will firmly defend its economic sovereignty, the livelihoods of its people, and the bright future of Balochistan against all such conspiracies.
