The Baloch Liberation Army’s latest propaganda bulletin attempts to manufacture an image of battlefield dominance by allegedly claiming that 52 security personnel were killed in 28 operations between September 1 and 7. It further claims that its terrorists captured security checkpoints, destroyed military vehicles, seized weapons and established control over multiple locations. These assertions are presented as evidence of operational strength, but the reported outcomes of several incidents expose a very different picture.

The statement relies on inflated casualty figures and selective reporting. Individual attacks are amplified, while subsequent security operations and terrorist losses are omitted. Temporary disruption is portrayed as territorial control, and damage to facilities is presented as military success. This transforms isolated incidents into an artificial narrative of sustained momentum.

The events around Nokcha in Chagai provide a clear example. On August 31, terrorists attempted to establish an illegal checkpoint on the N-40. Security forces responded and eliminated 11 terrorists, recovering weapons, ammunition and explosives. Rather than demonstrating control of the highway, the incident showed the ability of security forces to confront and dismantle a terrorist formation attempting to obstruct a major route.

Ziarat Cross further exposes the manipulation. BLA propaganda inflated the number of security personnel supposedly killed and presented the incident as a major success, despite the attack being claimed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and subsequent security operations resulting in significant terrorist casualties. The BLA’s incorporation of the incident into its own narrative, coupled with inflated figures, illustrates how terrorist groups can exploit the same episode to manufacture competing propaganda victories.

Khad Kocha follows the same pattern. The BLA described an IED attack as the destruction of an armoured vehicle and claimed four security personnel were killed. The assertion was not supported by verifiable evidence, while the reported outcome did not match the decisive victory portrayed in the statement. The episode demonstrates how the organisation attaches inflated casualty figures to attacks to create an exaggerated impression of effectiveness.

The claim of “control” is equally misleading. Destroying a rest house in Jhal Magsi does not amount to controlling an area. Establishing a temporary checkpoint does not establish territorial authority. An attack on a convoy does not demonstrate sustained military superiority. Yet the BLA repeatedly packages such incidents as evidence that it can dictate events across Balochistan.

The organisation’s statement also reveals the coercive character behind its propaganda. It celebrates attacks on highways, economic infrastructure, project sites and public facilities while branding local residents as “collaborators” and justifying violence against those who cooperate with the state or refuse to facilitate terrorism. Such intimidation is not evidence of popular support; it is an attempt to impose compliance through fear.

The broader context further undermines the BLA’s narrative. Security forces have continued intelligence-based operations against terrorist networks, with terrorist formations and hideouts targeted in several areas. Against this pressure, the BLA has an obvious incentive to construct a narrative in which every attack becomes a victory while its own losses disappear.

The 52 figure therefore serves a propaganda function rather than providing a credible assessment of battlefield developments. It is designed to project organisational relevance, conceal terrorist attrition and maintain the perception that the BLA retains expanding operational reach.

But propaganda cannot create territorial control through repetition. It cannot erase terrorist casualties or transform temporary attacks into strategic victories. The BLA’s latest bulletin does not demonstrate military dominance. It demonstrates the organisation’s reliance on inflated figures, selective reporting and information warfare to manufacture the appearance of it.
